About the Role

Are you an organized, self\-motivated professional who thrives on bringing community events to life? The Baileys Harbor Community Association (BHCA) is seeking an Operations/Marketing Manager to serve as the operational backbone of our vibrant Door County organization.

In this role, you will manage day\-to\-day administration, lead marketing and communications, coordinate community events, and serve as the primary point of contact for members, vendors, and volunteers. You will work closely with the Executive Director and Board to keep the organization running smoothly while our community continues to grow.

Position Details

Location: Baileys Harbor, WI (Primary office at BHCA/Visitor Center)

Classification: Full\-Time, Non\-Exempt

Salary: $50,000 annually

Schedule: Flexible — peak season hours May–October; reduced hours possible November–April

Reports To: Board of Directors/Executive Director

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning \& Execution (35%)

  • Serve as operational lead for all BHCA seasonal events including Blessing of the Fleet, Farmers Markets, Fourth of July Parade, Autumnfest, Harbor Holiday, and more
  • Manage the full event lifecycle: timelines, vendor coordination, volunteer scheduling, permits, insurance, signage, on\-site operations, budget tracking, and post\-event reporting
  • Maintain and grow Farmers Market vendor relationships and oversee fee collection

Marketing \& Communications (25%)

  • Manage social media presence (Facebook, Instagram) with regular, engaging content
  • Maintain and update the BHCA website; develop and execute email marketing campaigns
  • Create event marketing materials — posters, flyers, digital graphics
  • Support brand strategy execution, track marketing metrics, and maintain downtown corridor aesthetics (banners, seasonal décor)

Administrative Operations (20%)

  • Manage organizational email and respond to member/public inquiries
  • Maintain filing systems, membership database, and contact lists
  • Prepare operational reports for Board meetings and provide support to committees
  • Manage office supplies, equipment, and organizational systems

Visitor Center Operations (10%)

  • Staff the Visitor Center 1–2 days per week during peak season
  • Serve as the primary information resource for visitors; coordinate with Town staff and the Historical Society

Membership \& Volunteer Coordination (10%)

  • Recruit, schedule, and manage volunteers for events
  • Maintain volunteer database and support Annual Membership Meeting logistics

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate's or bachelor's degree preferred)
  • 3–5 years of experience in event coordination, marketing, or administration
  • Proven track record of successful, independently managed events
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
  • Experience with website content management and social media management
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with nonprofit organizations or community associations
  • Graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Email marketing platform experience
  • Project management certification or training
  • Knowledge of Baileys Harbor and Door County

Compensation \& Benefits

  • Salary: $50,000 annually
  • Two weeks PTO after 90\-day probationary period
  • Mileage reimbursement at current IRS rate
  • Company laptop provided
  • Phone stipend: $50/month ($600 annually)
  • Office supplies and equipment provided
  • Some remote work possible during off\-season

Working Conditions

This role requires evening and weekend availability during events. Peak season (May–October) involves increased hours. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, lifting up to 50 lbs, and standing for extended periods during events.
