Position Summary \- The General Manager is responsible for the overall performance, profitability, and daily operations of an individual store. This role has full accountability for all departments, including Sales, Service, Parts, Rentals, Inventory, Delivery, and local marketing execution. The General Manager owns the store’s results and is responsible for driving revenue growth, protecting gross margin, managing expenses, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.This position requires strong leadership, operational awareness, and the ability to align all departments toward common performance goals. The General Manager is the single point of accountability for everything that happens inside the store.
Responsibilities \- The General Manager leads all sales activities within the store, ensuring new and used unit performance meets company targets. This includes monitoring close rates, gross margins, and warranty and accessory penetration, while ensuring strong deal structure and disciplined follow\-up. The General Manager ensures that every lead is responded to promptly and that all customer interactions are accurately documented in the CRM system.Oversight of service and parts operations is equally important. The General Manager ensures technician productivity, efficient turnaround times, quality workmanship, and strong customer satisfaction. Parts inventory accuracy and departmental profitability must be maintained, and service and sales teams must operate collaboratively without silos.Inventory management is a core responsibility. The General Manager ensures accurate inventory counts, appropriate pricing alignment with company strategy, and timely movement of aging units. Used inventory and trade\-ins must be evaluated carefully to protect margin and maintain healthy turn rates. Showroom and lot presentation must consistently reflect company standards and remain clean, organized, and retail\-ready.Customer data compliance is mandatory. The General Manager ensures that every customer interaction, whether by phone or walk\-in, captures full name, phone number, and email address, and that all information is entered into the CRM immediately and accurately. CRM discipline and lead follow\-up are non\-negotiable expectations.The General Manager also oversees local marketing execution, including online listings such as Facebook Marketplace, ensuring inventory is properly presented with accurate pricing and timely responses to inquiries. Rental fleet oversight and delivery coordination fall under this role to ensure proper utilization, equipment condition, and professional customer handoff.Above all, the General Manager is responsible for hiring, developing, and leading a strong team. This role sets the tone for accountability, culture, and performance within the store. The General Manager must understand and manage the store’s financial performance, including revenue, gross margin, payroll efficiency, and expense control.
Qualifications \- Candidates must have prior leadership experience overseeing both sales and service operations within a retail environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong operational awareness, the ability to manage team performance across multiple departments, and a clear understanding of revenue, gross margin, and customer experience in a retail setting. Experience working with CRM systems and managing store\-level financial performance is preferred.
