Position Overview Under the direction of the Director of Patient Care Services Operations, this leadership role drives the operational, financial, and administrative functions of the Patient Care Services department. This position plays a key role in cross\-functional collaboration, strategic planning, and performance reporting to support the department's goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Operations \& Strategy Partners with Senior Leadership, Directors, and Managers to optimize business operations and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Develops and implements short\- and long\-term action plans, identifies emerging trends, and drives continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Financial Management Oversees Clinical Services budgets, monthly financial performance, variance reporting, and annual forecasting. Prepares budgetary recommendations, manages grant financials, and serves as a financial liaison between leadership, accounting, and external parties.
  • Reporting \& Compliance Manages programmatic reporting to external agencies including MIEMSS, HSCRC, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Ensures data integrity and supports internal and external audit processes.
  • Technology \& Systems Serves as the primary liaison between Patient Care Services and IT, overseeing scheduling and payroll systems including ANSOS One\-Staff, Lawson, and Kronos. Maintains documentation, training materials, and data integrity processes.
  • Team Leadership Supervises financial, operational, and administrative staff. Sets clear expectations, monitors performance, and provides ongoing feedback and development.
  • Project Management Leads the planning and implementation of department projects and process improvement initiatives, ensuring timely and effective execution.

Work Experience

Education \& Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field or equivalent. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. MBA, CPA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Seven years of progressively responsible work experience in health care administration, financial analysis, budgeting, reimbursement, accounting, auditing or the educational equivalent. Healthcare\-related finance background is preferred.
  • Experience supervising, monitoring daily work activities, evaluating, training and motivating the performance of subordinate technical, professional and clerical support staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Healthcare \& Operations Expertise Strong knowledge of clinical operations, business processes, and healthcare regulations. Extensive experience with clinical and operational decision support systems, with the ability to assess complex issues and develop actionable solutions.
  • Financial \& Analytical Acumen Demonstrated financial management skills with the ability to organize, interpret, and integrate data. A critical thinker who can identify trends, monitor outcomes, and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Technology Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and finance\-related software. Comfortable working with databases, reporting tools, and complex data systems — and able to train others along the way. Experience working with Kronos for timekeeping and scheduling, as well as an ERP system for scheduling, timekeeping, and managing procurement and invoice processing.
  • Leadership \& People Skills Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and develop staff at all levels. Skilled at navigating competing priorities, facilitating collaboration across departments, and building high\-performing teams.
  • Communication \& Influence Highly effective verbal and written communicator, comfortable presenting to and engaging with audiences of all sizes \- from frontline staff to senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • Project Management Demonstrated proficiency in managing projects, tracking deliverables, coordinating resources, and transitioning ownership of initiatives to the appropriate teams using sound metrics and methodologies.
  • Professionalism \& Integrity Exercises sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information. Thrives in a fast\-paced, dynamic academic medical environment while maintaining a positive, professional, and solutions\-oriented work ethic.
