Overview

ELB Learning is seeking an experienced Energy Enablement Strategist / SME to support a large\-scale sales enablement initiative for a growing organization in the energy sector.

This is a hybrid role combining sales enablement leadership, instructional design strategy, and deep energy market expertise. The ideal candidate can operate at both a strategic and hands\-on level; designing the enablement architecture while also shaping the foundational assets that will later be developed into formal learning solutions.

This is not an eLearning development role. The focus is on building the blueprint, structure, and scalable system that drives onboarding, sales readiness, and ongoing performance improvement.

What You’ll Do

Phase 1: Enablement Blueprint (Weeks 1–6\)

  • Conduct rapid discovery across existing enablement materials and identify gaps (reuse, refresh, retire, build)
  • Lead stakeholder alignment sessions and content audits across SMEs and business leaders
  • Define role\-based onboarding tracks (e.g., new business vs. account growth)
  • Build structured onboarding programs (e.g., 6\-week onboarding with learning gates and checkpoints)
  • Align onboarding design to business metrics (e.g., time\-to\-first\-sale, pipeline progression, forecast accuracy)
  • Design:
  • Curriculum map
  • Sequencing and learning paths
  • Weekly learning gates
  • Evidence packages and scoring rubrics
  • Create SME capture strategy and reduce ongoing SME dependency through reusable frameworks
  • Build prioritized backlog of enablement assets

Phase 2: MVP Enablement Build (Weeks 7–14\)

  • Develop “starter kits” for key products and market areas (C\&I, utilities, energy programs, etc.)
  • Create enablement assets including:
  • Personas
  • Market briefs
  • Pitch guides
  • Objection handling frameworks
  • Sales playbooks and ICPs
  • Partner with Instructional Designers and Developers for structured content handoff
  • Help structure a SharePoint\-based enablement hub (taxonomy, naming conventions, version control)
  • Align enablement content with CRM workflows (HubSpot) and real sales processes

Optional / Future Phases

  • Develop coaching frameworks and practice environments (e.g., simulations, roleplay scenarios)
  • Build certification and competency models
  • Design a scalable everboarding / continuous learning engine for ongoing updates across markets and products

Key Deliverables

  • Role\-based onboarding curriculum (shared \+ specialized tracks)
  • Structured onboarding system (learning gates, scoring, certification readiness)
  • Enablement asset library (starter kits, playbooks, guides, frameworks)
  • SME offload strategy and content sustainability model
  • Curriculum map, sequencing model, and measurement framework
  • Handoff documentation for Instructional Design and Development teams

What You Bring

Required

  • Strong experience in energy markets (utilities, demand response, DER, ISO/RTO, energy trading, regulated environments)
  • Proven background in sales enablement, revenue readiness, or sales operations programs
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into simple, seller\-ready tools and frameworks
  • Experience designing:
  • Onboarding programs
  • Playbooks
  • Certification or competency models
  • Comfortable working in environments without a formal LMS (e.g., SharePoint, Planner)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with HubSpot or Salesforce CRM environments
  • Familiarity with sales methodologies (MEDDICC, Sandler, RAIN, etc.)
  • Exposure to multiple sales motions (new business vs. account growth)
  • Basic instructional design knowledge (no development required)

Why This Role

  • Opportunity to build a sales enablement function from the ground up
  • Highly strategic, high\-visibility work with direct business impact
  • Work alongside enablement leaders, SMEs, and cross\-functional teams
  • Chance to design a scalable system that moves from onboarding performance everboarding
  • Flexible contract engagement with potential for extension
