We are seeking a talented and experienced Audience \& Marketing Operations Manager to join our team. This position is open to remote candidates located within the U.S.
The Audience \& Marketing Operations Manager supports our mission to be a data\-driven business that relies heavily on first\-party data to drive business decisions and growth outcomes. In this role, you will develop platform mastery to manage the technical execution, data hygiene, and automation pathways that power our audience growth. As our primary MarTech subject matter expert, you will help translate capabilities into business opportunities–bridging the gap between data architecture and marketing strategy to scale our subscriptions, memberships, and paid products.
Responsibilities
Marketing Automation \& Targeting
\- Identify and activate actionable customer segments through audience data analysis, adhering to channel best practices.
\- Plan, execute, and scale lifecycle and behavioral email and onsite campaigns to improve conversion and retention; partner with digital and operations teams to develop targeted journeys across subscriptions, memberships, and paid products.
\- Develop and manage onsite personalization campaigns aligned to platform capabilities and user experience standards.
\- Monitor, optimize, and expand cross\-platform integrations to support scalability, usability, and data capture accuracy.
\- Serve as the primary martech SME for product, editorial, sales, and finance teams; translate technical capabilities into business opportunities.
Data Acquisition \& Optimization
\-Build and iterate on advanced customer segmentation using first\-party data, inferred preferences, and lead scoring; champion segmentation adoption across teams.
\- Design and execute first\-party demographic capture campaigns that are targeted, non\-intrusive, and optimized for engagement.
\- Develop, update, and monitor email and demographic collection forms for design, functionality, and performance.
\- Normalize, cleanse, and enrich data to enable clean segmentation and analysis; ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, CASL, CAN\-SPAM, and other applicable regulations.
Reporting \& Optimization
\- Provide audience segmentation reporting to support strategy development and performance.
\- In addition, work with the Conversion \& Growth managers to implement site metering and paywalls, ensuring smooth data capture.
\- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
\- 5\+ years of experience across multiple marketing automation, CDP, or marketing operations platforms.
\- Proven ability to work across digital and marketing platforms, visualize integration architecture, and build reliable connections accessible to non\-technical stakeholders.
\- Experience analyzing and manipulating large data sets with ESPs, CDPs, and data lake environments.
\- Proficient in HTML/CSS (email and web), JavaScript, SQL, and API integrations with a solid understanding of data flows.
\- Hands\-on experience with subscription/media business models, marketing automation platforms, CDPs, CRM systems, CMS platforms, tag management systems, and analytics tools.
\- Familiarity with attribution models, A/B testing frameworks, conversion funnels, and data/lead flow architecture.
