Position Summary
MannKind Corporation currently has an open position for an Associate Director, Marketing Operations to lead the strategy, processes, data, and technology that enable compliant, scalable, measurable marketing execution. This role partners with Brand Marketing, Digital Marketing, Sales, Business Analytics, and Legal/Compliance to optimize the end\-to\-end campaign lifecycle—from planning and customer segmentation through execution, approved content activation, and performance reporting. The Associate Director drives operational excellence by strengthening governance, improving data quality, standardizing workflows, and accelerating insights that improve HCP and consumer engagement, brand performance, and marketing efficiency. This position will be located in our Westlake Village, CA location.
Principal responsibilities will include
Marketing Operations leadership
- Lead and evolve the Marketing Operations operating model, intake, prioritization, and delivery across campaign operations, marketing technology, and data and performance reporting.
- Team development \- Hire, coach, and develop marketing operations talent as applicable; set goals, establish best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Operations
- Partner with Sales and Business Analytics to align customer data, territories, and engagement processes; enable integrated programs across digital and field channels where applicable.
- Materials loaded effectively in CRM
- Communication to Sales team members
- Invoice and PO processing for local and regional conferences, registration and payment processing with vendor. May provide support to events and conferences as needed
- Process automation \- Identify and implement automation to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and shorten cycle times across campaign builds, review workflows, and reporting.
Vendor and budget management
- Evaluate vendors, manage contracts/renewals, and ensure partners meet pharma compliance, privacy, and security expectations; track spend and measure ROI.
Measurement and insights
- Own marketing performance reporting and dashboards (e.g., channel performance, engagement, conversion, and business outcomes); improve measurement frameworks and ensure stakeholders can trust and use the data.
- Define and track KPIs tied to campaign effectiveness, customer acquisition, and ROI
- Use analytics to optimize marketing investment and improve commercial performance
Events and Conferences
- Close collaboration with Congress/Events Manager
- Align event participation with revenue objectives, product launches, and campaign themes
- Provide support for local / regional conferences across all products (\~200 reps)
- National POA and sales meetings
- Manage event budgets with financial discipline and ROI accountability
- Design activation frameworks for major congresses, symposia, executive programs
- Implement structured pre\-event targeting and post\-event conversion processes
- Advisory boards
- Commercial inbox (internal rep requests, HCPs requesting a rep)
Print Resource Management* Collaborate with marketing teams on project plans for timing and specifics around printed materials
- Ensure we have an ample supply of current PI and med info guides available for stuffing in resources
- Work with printer on logistics (coordinating field drop ships, ensuring they have the latest roster, warehouse delivery scheduling, etc.)
- Work with the agency of record on print files/specs – digital and/or hard copy proof approvals
- Native art file archiving
Warehouse and Distribution Management
- Delivery and setup of inbound resources (packing slips, description, mix/max qty, images)
- Portal removal and destruction of outdated materials / initiate field communication / certificates of destruction
- User setup/deactivation
- Weekly inventory monitoring so that field teams do not experience temporary “out of stock” situations
- Acknowledgement of Content (AOC) monitoring for compliance purposes
- Arrange resource shipments for congresses
- Patient FEV1 program management and HCP FEV\-1 management
- Sample management – partner closely with cross\-functional teams and Supply Chain on inventory forecasting for all product samples
- Troubleshoot sample delivery issues (lost in transit, rejected orders, orders missing information, etc.)
- Supply ordering for cold chain product
- Lost in Transit orders and notifications to Regulatory Affairs
Speaker programs Support the logistics, reporting of programs, ensuring programs are compliant and processed, coordination with vendor and compliance check\-ins, ensuring requirements met for training of speakers, contracting)
Education and Experience Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA preferred
- 7\+ years of experience in marketing operations, commercial operations, marketing analytics, or a related function, including ownership of cross\-functional processes
- 3\+ years of experience leading complex initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders; people management experience a plus
- Hands\-on expertise with marketing automation platforms and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce/Veeva CRM, as applicable)
- Experience supporting commercial marketing for regulated industries
- Strong understanding of segmentation and targeting for HCP and/or patient audiences, including consent management and privacy expectations
- Demonstrated ability to build reporting and dashboards; proficiency with BI/reporting tools and spreadsheet modeling
- Experience establishing data governance, campaign taxonomy, and operational QA practices; strong attention to detail and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non\-technical audiences and drive adoption through training and enablement.
